The most common question we hear is which protection level to choose. The honest answer is that it depends on the threats you are likely to face, not on the highest number available.
Start with the threat, not the vehicle
Think about where the vehicle will be used, who travels in it and what kind of weapons are common in that area. A family car in a city with a street-crime risk needs different protection from a vehicle moving officials through a conflict zone.
What the levels mean
- B4 stops handguns up to .44 Magnum. It adds the least weight and suits discreet everyday use.
- B6 stops high-powered rifles up to 7.62 × 51 mm. It is the most requested level for diplomatic and executive SUVs.
- B7 stops armor-piercing rifle rounds. It is used in high-threat regions and needs a strong body-on-frame platform.
Weight changes everything
Every level adds weight, so higher protection needs upgraded suspension, brakes and run-flat tyres. Choosing a level you do not need can make the vehicle slower, less agile and more costly to run.
